|Why West Brom and Bristol City target won't be leaving League One side
| maxbet Reported Bristol City target Kyle Dempsey looks set to stay at Fleetwood Town for the new campaign. The young midfielder was yesterday linked with a move to the Championship this summer but sources close to the club dismissed the rumours when speaking to the Blackpool Gazette. The reports suggest that club have received no official offers and have no plans to sell him during the current transfer window.
His current contract runs until 2020 so the club will be in a strong position to withstand any offers. West Brom and Wigan Athletic have also been linked with the 22-year-old, with the Mail Online Sport reporting that Darren Moore wanted to make Dempsey his first signing at the club. But now it appears all the sides including Bristol City will have to look elsewhere. maxbet
Dempsey moved to Fleetwood from Huddersfield Town in 2017 after a successful loan spell where he helped the club challenge for promotion in League One, before playing a part in helping Fleetwood avoid relegation last season as he played 52 games and scoring one goal. However manager John Sheridan has encouraged him to get forward more often and rediscover the goal scoring form which helped earn him a move to Huddersfield from Carlisle United.
After his only goal of the season against Northampton Town Sheridan said: “Kyle should be scoring seven, eight goals a season with what he has got in his game. “I’ve given him that licence to get forward a little bit more and I’m very pleased his performance merited a goal.” maxbet
